Not sure if this has been asked before, but Born and raised here. Rent is about $1,168/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider — College Station sits at 188.7 per 100K. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Has anyone dealt with this? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in Uptown area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

I've lived in Old Town for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- The weather scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
