Hey folks, Rent is about $1,168/month for a decent place. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Has anyone dealt with this? Looking forward to hearing from you all. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Greenfield area are solid. Kids love it here.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 7 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Boston about 5 years ago. The main reasons were school and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Close to major attractions
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Highland. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in retail. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..
