Is Commerce worth it salary-wise?

Longtime lurker here, You can expect to pay around $902 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Commerce sits at 348.4 per 100K. Poverty rate is 19.4%, which is higher than I expected. Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What would you do? Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Atlanta about 2 years ago. The main reasons were family and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is excellent.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 9 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is food scene. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Bought a house here in 2019 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I've lived in Eastside for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
- The traffic scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Definitely worth checking out..
