Curious what people think. I've been here for 8 years and Crime rate is something to consider -Cornelius sits at 120.5 per 100K. With a population of 32,009, Cornelius is a smaller city. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Oak Park. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in marketing. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is challenging.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 1 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
