Homes are going for about $512,400 on average. Household incomes average around $114,688 in Cornelius. Average temperature is around 61--F, so the weather is moderate. It's a a smaller city city with about 32,009 people. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Would love some local perspective. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Denver about 1 years ago. The main reasons were family and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is better than expected.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've lived in Uptown for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- The nightlife scene is tough
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited high-paying job options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Bought a house here in 2018 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone up a bit since then.
