Curious what people think. I relocated for work and Homes are going for about $143,800 on average. Median household income is $55,368, which feels about average for the area. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks in advance! Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 4 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Baltimore about 5 years ago. The main reasons were school and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Bugs and humidity in summer
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are wild, gas is excellent.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Happy to answer more specific questions..
