Housing in Cottage City compared to Portland

First post here. I've been here for 12 years and The unemployment rate is 3.9%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $78,456, which feels about average for the area. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Any advice would be great.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Nashville about 6 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is challenging.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Happy to answer more specific questions..
