What surprised you most about Country Walk?

OK so I'm single, late 50s, and Household incomes average around $118,881 in Country Walk. It's a a small town city with about 18,693 people. Median household income is $118,881, which feels pretty solid for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -Country Walk sits at 288.1 per 100K. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Cedar Grove. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in government. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 7 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is healthcare. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The public transit is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
