Anyone else feel this way? Born and raised here. Homes are going for about $702,600 on average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. TIA! People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Charlotte about 6 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 7 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Bought a house here in 2020 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone down slightly since then.
