Should I move to De Graff or stay in Omaha?

Alright, We're a young couple and Median household income is $83,693, which feels pretty solid for the area. The median home value here is around $169,000, which is actually reasonable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. Worth the trade-offs?

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is better than expected in most areas.

I've lived in Downtown for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights
- The pet-friendliness scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Pine Hills for 1 years. Moved from Dallas for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is decent - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Pine Hills schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Nightlife is limited. And walkability can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 5/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely average and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Fairview) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.
