Cost of living reality check -Denison

Been meaning to ask this. Crime rate is something to consider -Denison sits at 416.8 per 100K. Household incomes average around $60,821 in Denison. Median household income is $60,821, which feels about average for the area. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Good job market
- Low taxes
- Good internet infrastructure
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Far from major airports
Am I wrong here? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Downtown for 13 years. Moved from Phoenix for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Downtown schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Limited shopping options. And school system can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 7/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Riverside area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Maple Ridge. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like seafood.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I genuinely enjoy living here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The healthcare is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Springfield for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options
- The safety scene is tough

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Definitely worth checking out..
