Not sure if this has been asked before, but My partner and I are With a population of 18,420, Dover is a small town. Household incomes average around $70,519 in Dover. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Let me know your thoughts. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Used to live on the Uptown side, now on the Oak Park side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Pine Hills. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in legal. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from San Francisco about 8 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are reasonable, gas is underrated.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
