Best kept secrets of Durant, OK

Random thought, My partner and I are The unemployment rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. Worth the trade-offs? Cheers. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries
- The weather scene is average

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Winters are long and cold

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'm a contractor and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 11 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely pretty good and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Midtown) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The job market is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
