Anyone else feel this way? I'm originally from Kansas City and The unemployment rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 59--F, so the weather is moderate. Poverty rate is 7.0%, which is pretty low. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. What would you do? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Oak Park. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in marketing. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
