Been meaning to ask this. I relocated for work and It's a a small town city with about 5,832 people. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Worth the trade-offs? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 13 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is traffic. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from San Diego about 9 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Active local events and festivals
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is decent.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Definitely worth checking out..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
