Hey folks, I'm a 47-year-old teacher and It's a a small town city with about 8,297 people. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Cedar Grove area are improving. Kids love it here.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much affordable but now it's better than expected.

I work in hospitality here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is hit or miss. Hope this helps!.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 5 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Austin about 10 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is excellent.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Worth doing your research before committing.
