OK so Born and raised here. Poverty rate is 7.4%, which is pretty low. It's a a smaller city city with about 25,170 people. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Has anyone dealt with this?

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a writer, 46, moved here 13 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Downtown and West, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited shopping options
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The job market situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for remote workers. tough vibes, walkable.
- West: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Highland. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
No regrets on my end..

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Four distinct seasons
- The housing market scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
