Is Edgewood a good place to live?

Random thought, I'm retired and Property taxes are high but you get good services. Is this normal for Edgewood?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Baltimore about 1 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is improving.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in Maple Ridge area are improving. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Denver about 6 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are pricey, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Hope this helps!.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Downtown for 7 years. Moved from San Diego for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Downtown schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited entertainment options. Bugs and humidity in summer. And housing market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 5/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. outdoor recreation used to be much competitive but now it's challenging.
