Relocating to Edgewood, MD -pros and cons?

Hey folks, Poverty rate is 7.4%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 5.9%, which is about average. The median home value here is around $234,700, which is actually reasonable. Median household income is $86,355, which feels pretty solid for the area. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Would love some local perspective. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from LA about 12 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is excellent.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
