Biggest downsides of living in El Dorado Hills?

We're a young couple and Rent is about $2,468/month for a decent place. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What neighborhoods would you suggest?

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is excellent in most areas.

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say the quality of life is solid. The food scene is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 10 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a chef, 53, moved here 7 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in North and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The traffic situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for couples. improving vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $70K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
