El Dorado Hills quality of life -am I missing something?

Hi all, My family moved here when I was a kid. Rent is about $2,468/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 61--F, so the weather is moderate. Household incomes average around $163,544 in El Dorado Hills. It's a a smaller city city with about 50,553 people. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Close to nature
- Diverse community
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Sprawl everywhere
- High property taxes
- Mosquitoes and humidity
What are your go-to spots? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Oak Park. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
