Unpopular opinion about El Dorado Hills

First post here. We're a young couple and It's a a smaller city city with about 50,553 people. Median household income is $163,544, which feels pretty solid for the area. You can expect to pay around $2,468 for rent here. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What are your go-to spots? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

I've lived in East for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions
- The cultural scene scene is average

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Nightlife is limited

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Uptown for 15 years. Moved from Boston for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
government is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Not very walkable outside downtown. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 8/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Westside area are decent. Kids love it here.

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor recreation is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Boston it's hit or miss.

I've been in North for 10 years. Moved from New York for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. government is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is solid - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Dating scene is rough. And housing market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 7/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Denver about 15 years ago. The main reasons were school and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is challenging.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Feel free to reach out with questions..
