What I wish I knew before living in El Dorado Hills

Hey, Homes are going for about $870,300 on average. Average temperature is around 61--F, so the weather is moderate. Poverty rate is 3.3%, which is pretty low. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Growing food scene
- Diverse community
- Strong sense of community

Cons:
- Cold winters
- High property taxes
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Limited cultural events
The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Came here for my partner's job and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The pet-friendliness is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Bought a house here in 2017 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. housing market used to be much affordable but now it's pretty good.

I've lived in Downtown for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Active local events and festivals
- The cost of living scene is tough

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Winters are long and cold

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Lakewood. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in engineering. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Hope this helps!.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. it exceeded my expectations. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Maple Ridge. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Southern.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
