Cheapest neighborhoods in El Monte?
Alright, We have two kids and Median household income is $64,484, which feels about average for the area.

I've lived in South for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Close to major attractions
- The traffic scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Chain restaurants dominate
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
