Been a El Monte resident for 1 years. Here's my honest take: Pros: - Strong job market - Low crime in most areas - Reasonable housing Cons: - Summer heat is intense - Property taxes are high Overall I'd rate it 9/10. It's not perfect but it works for our family.
The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.
