What surprised you most about El Monte?

So, You can expect to pay around $1,677 for rent here. With a population of 107K, El Monte is a mid-size city. Crime rate is something to consider -El Monte sits at 262.5 per 100K. It's a a mid-size city city with about 107K people. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Has anyone dealt with this? The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

I work in government here and I genuinely enjoy living here. The job market for my field is better than expected. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Downtown for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The housing market scene is tough

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Feel free to reach out with questions..
