El Monte is underrated, change my mind

Hi all, I'm retired and You can expect to pay around $1,677 for rent here. With a population of 107K, El Monte is a mid-size city. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What do you all think?

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Old Town area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 12 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
