What surprised you most about Elburn?

Hey folks, I'm a remote worker and Median household income is $106,506, which feels pretty solid for the area. The unemployment rate is 0.4%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $358,200, which seems about average. You can expect to pay around $1,705 for rent here. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. Anyone in a similar situation? Thanks in advance! Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from San Diego about 14 years ago. The main reasons were work and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Affordable housing options
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is challenging.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. No regrets on my end..
