Elizabeth City vs Miami -which is better?

Hey folks, The median home value here is around $202,100, which is actually reasonable. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Anyone in a similar situation? Looking forward to hearing from you all. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I've lived in Midtown for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
- The public transit scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. No regrets on my end..

I've lived in North for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure
- The walkability scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Westside for 15 years. Moved from Phoenix for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Westside schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Far from beaches/mountains. And housing market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 7/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
