Random thought, We have two kids and Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

I'm a physical therapist and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Miami it's underrated.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Old Town. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in finance. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
