What's it really like living in Emporia?
First post here. I've been here for 7 years and The unemployment rate is 1.8%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,060 for rent here. Household incomes average around $49,375 in Emporia. Median household income is $49,375, which feels on the lower side for the area. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

- Plenty of shopping options

- Lack of diversity
- Homelessness issues downtown
What would you do? Thanks in advance! There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.
