What to expect moving to Essex?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm retired and With a population of 40,670, Essex is a smaller city. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Used to live on the Downtown side, now on the Cedar Grove side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
