Working remotely from Estancia

Hi all, Been living here since 2014. Household incomes average around $34,559 in Estancia. Rent is about $823/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 19.9%, which is higher than I expected. With a population of 1,399, Estancia is a small town. The unemployment rate is 20.7%, which is concerning. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to LA it's better than expected.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 8 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..
