Longtime lurker here, Born and raised here. The unemployment rate is 4.0%, which is pretty low. The suburbs are where most families end up. What would you do? The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

I've lived in Riverside for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- The cost of living scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want housing market, then yeah this place is great. But if job market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
