First post here. We have two kids and With a population of 76,552, Evanston is a smaller city. Homes are going for about $472,300 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -Evanston sits at 155.3 per 100K. Rent is about $1,698/month for a decent place. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.
