Been meaning to ask this. I'm a 24-year-old social worker and Homes are going for about $267,000 on average. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Is this normal for Fairlawn? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is better than expected in most areas.

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The weather is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in South. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in legal. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a chef, 36, moved here 12 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Lakewood and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Limited shopping options
3. The school system situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Lakewood: Great for retirees. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $60K-$110K here.
**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I work in finance here and the quality of life is solid. The job market for my field is tough. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Oak Park area are average. Kids love it here.

Hot take but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.
