Day-to-day life in Fairwood CDP (Spokane County), WA

I'm single, late 40s, and Rent is about $1,191/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 7.8%, which is pretty low. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. What do you all think? TIA! The city has invested a lot in new development.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Houston about 6 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is decent.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 3 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to San Diego it's better than expected.
