What's it really like living in Fairwood CDP (Spokane County)?

Longtime lurker here, Been living here since 2020. The median home value here is around $435,200, which is pretty steep. Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. It's a a small town city with about 10,439 people. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Anyone in a similar situation? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Springfield) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
