Hey, We're a young couple and Crime rate is something to consider -Fife sits at 755.5 per 100K. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Is this normal for Fife? The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

I'm a chef and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. The community is surprisingly good and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from LA about 4 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is underrated.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a physical therapist, 47, moved here 4 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in The Heights and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The cultural scene situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- The Heights: Great for remote workers. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $90K-$130K here.
**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.
