Alright, Been living here since 2024. Crime rate is something to consider -Florence sits at 166.8 per 100K. It's a a smaller city city with about 25,961 people. The median home value here is around $322,600, which seems about average. Average temperature is around 72--F, so it's warm year-round. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 3 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

I've been living here for 2 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The nightlife is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to San Francisco it's solid.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a teacher, 52, moved here 10 years ago from LA. I've lived in Midtown and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Can feel isolated
3. The community vibe situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for families. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from LA, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $40K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
