Been meaning to ask this. With a population of 20,678, Forest Lake is a small town. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The housing market is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is solid in most areas.

I'm a nurse and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is improving and there's always something going on.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in West. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in education. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
No regrets on my end..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
