Alright, I'm a teacher here and The median home value here is around $375,900, which seems about average. The unemployment rate is 3.3%, which is pretty low. The weather takes some getting used to.

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in Pine Hills area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 3 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Old Town for 12 years. Moved from San Francisco for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is solid - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Old Town schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited shopping options. Far from beaches/mountains. And school system can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 8/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Came here for work and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The healthcare is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've been here 15 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
