Why I chose Forest Lake over bigger cities

Hey folks, Born and raised here. With a population of 20,678, Forest Lake is a small town. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. What would you do? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in Sunset for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- The outdoor recreation scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Good luck with whatever you decide..

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

The food scene here is decent. Tons of great Mexican places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
