Random thought, Been living here since 2018. Household incomes average around $78,825 in Forest. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 3 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The weather is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

The food scene here is underrated. Tons of great Mexican places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The cultural scene is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is healthcare. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Highland. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in marketing. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
