I've been here for 17 years and The median home value here is around $73,000, which is actually reasonable. Poverty rate is 27.3%, which is higher than I expected. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Should I be concerned? The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. I've been in The Heights for 9 years. Moved from Pittsburgh for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
retail is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
