Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a remote worker and Median household income is $66,964, which feels about average for the area. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Am I overthinking this? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely pretty good and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Highland) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2024 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Used to live on the Meadowbrook side, now on the Riverside side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.
