Been meaning to ask this. Crime rate is something to consider -Fort Morgan sits at 378.7 per 100K. It's a a small town city with about 11,521 people. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Let me know your thoughts. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I've lived in Old Town for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- The walkability scene is improving
The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is job market. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. housing market used to be much wild but now it's average.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Old Town. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Springfield. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
