I've been here for 9 years and You can expect to pay around $1,072 for rent here. Median household income is $72,021, which feels about average for the area. Household incomes average around $72,021 in Fountain Inn. Average temperature is around 61--F, so the weather is moderate. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- The traffic scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Urban sprawl is real
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in South. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in construction. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Hope this helps!.

Bought a house here in 2023 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value weather, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Limited shopping options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 8 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
