Considering Fritz Creek vs San Diego -help me decide

Hey everyone, Rent is about $1,292/month for a decent place. With a population of 2,432, Fritz Creek is a small town. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Is this normal for Fritz Creek? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 15 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in North. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in legal. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Meadowbrook area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- The cost of living scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Feel free to reach out with questions..
