Been meaning to ask this. We're a young couple and Average temperature is around 48--F, so expect cold winters. With a population of 10,706, Gages Lake is a small town. Median household income is $105,114, which feels pretty solid for the area. The unemployment rate is 5.1%, which is about average. Rent is about $1,741/month for a decent place. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Fairview. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in finance. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like sushi.

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Sunset area are average. Kids love it here.
